Culicoides Cu·li·coi·des (kyōō'lĭ-koi'dēz')
A genus of minute biting gnats or midges.
It is related to culicoides but differs in the number of antennal segments and in its wing venation (fig. 163, e).
Of the genus culicoides there are many species occurring in various parts of the world.
This genus is distinguished from culicoides by its bare wings, the venation (fig. 163, c), and the longer tarsal claws.
