fibrinous bronchitis n.
Inflammation of the bronchial mucous membrane, accompanied by a fibrinous exudation. Also called pseudomembranous bronchitis.
Fibrinous casts are characteristic of fibrinous bronchitis, but may also be found in diphtheria of the smaller bronchi.
In fibrinous bronchitis there are found, in addition, fibrinous casts, usually of medium size.
In the spring of 1879 I met with four cases of fibrinous bronchitis in children under three years of age.
