mucocutaneous leishmaniasis n.
A chronic variable disease caused by Leishmania braziliensis, endemic in Central and South America, and characterized by lesions of the skin and mucous membranes, which heal but are followed after months or years by others often eroding lesions on the tongue and mucous membranes of the mouth and nose. Also called American leishmaniasis, nasopharyngeal leishmaniasis, New World leishmaniasis.
