In the case of the first dorsal nerve, it may be necessary temporarily to resect the clavicle.
Another method is to resect the handle of the malleus (Fig. 195).
In severe cases it may be necessary to resect a portion of the tarsus.
Failure to resect may have been due to the great amount of work pressing upon the surgeons.
