utriculus u·tric·u·lus (yu-trĭk'yə-ləs)
n. pl. u·tric·u·li (-lī')
An anatomical sac or pouch, especially the one within the inner ear; utricle.
At this stage we may call the remaining cavity of the original otic vesicle, into which all the above parts open, the utriculus.
Naturalists after Eschscholtz call it Physalia utriculus, from the Greek word , a bubble, and utriculus from its stinging powers.
