Some of it is exported directly from Jibuti, and the rest is forwarded to Aden, in Arabia, for re-exporting.

In some cases it is put through a further cleaning process; but usually it is shipped to Jibuti or Aden uncleaned.

Arriving at Jibuti, there is a one-percent ad valorem duty to pay.

With Jibuti it is connected by a railway (188 m. long) and carriage-road.
