Origin of bheesty

First recorded in 1775–85; from Urdu bhīstī, from Persian bihishtī, literally, “pertaining to paradise,” i.e., “beautiful,” as poetic convention describing royal cupbearers (equivalent to bihisht “paradise” + a suffix indicating relationship or origin)
