inferior constrictor muscle of pharynx


A muscle with origin in the outer surfaces of the thyroid and cricoid cartilages, with insertion to the pharyngeal raphe in the wall of the pharynx, with nerve supply from the pharyngeal plexus, and whose action narrows the lower part of the pharynx in swallowing.
