maiasaura
A duck-billed dinosaur of the genus Maiasaura of the late Cretaceous Period of North America. Its remains suggest that the adults lived in herds and cared for their young in large nesting sites.

Limited fossil clues from relatively large but not the most massive dinosaurs permit a rough estimation of body growth rates, including relatively complete fossils of the duck-billed dinosaur Maiasaura at different stages of development.
During this time, we know that Maiasaura had lines of arrested growth in its bones, indicating that it reached those 3.6 m in the first seven to nine months.
Several fossilized eggshells were tested, including from the carnivorous Troodon, a herbivore Maiasaura and the massive Megaloolithus.

The researchers discovered the Troodon samples were 50 degrees Fahrenheit warmer, whereas the Maiasaura was 59 degrees Fahrenheit warmer and the Megaloolithus samples were between 37.4 and 42.8 degrees Fahrenheit warmer.
