a lakelike body of water on the boundary between the W Democratic Republic of the Congo and the SE People's Republic of the Congo, formed by the widening of the Congo (Zaire) River about 330 miles (530 km) from its mouth. About 20 miles (32 km) long; about 15 miles (24 km) wide.
