1. A twentieth-century businessman and politician. Perot founded the Electronic Data Systems Corporation in Dallas in 1962, became extremely wealthy, and in 1992 ran for president of the United States as an independent. He ran again in 1996 as the candidate of the Reform party, although his strongest showing was in 1992, when he received nineteen percent of the popular vote.
