law of independent assortment vs. law of segregation
law of independent assortment vs. law of segregation: What's the difference?
Botanist Gregor Mendel’s law of independent assortment and his law of segregation both relate to gamete production in the inheritance of characteristics. The law of independent assortment states that individual hereditary factors distribute independently, giving different traits an equal opportunity of occurring together. The law of segregation states that the two copies of each hereditary factor separate so that offspring acquire one factor from each parent.
