What does chopped mean?
Chopped is slang for “unattractive” or “uncool.” The term is often used by teenagers across social media platforms to insult other people’s looks or social status. Chopped caught on with younger generations after a meme known as “Chopped Chin” went viral in late 2024. The meme, which mocks someone’s appearance, comes from a video taken at a basketball game. Despite the term’s recent attention on social media, chopped is believed to have originated years earlier in African American Vernacular English (AAVE).
A recent variation of chopped is choppelganger. A portmanteau of chopped and doppelganger, it refers to the less attractive lookalike of someone familiar (such as a celebrity).
