What does broligarchy mean?
Broligarchy is a slang political term to describe what some perceive as a ruling class that’s dominated by male, tech-savvy entrepreneurs. These “tech bros,” as they are sometimes called, may share the same ideologies and wealthy lifestyles.
Broligarchy comes from a blend of bro, as in a male friend, and oligarchy, meaning “a system of rule where the government is run by a small, powerful group.”
The term gained traction during the 2024 U.S. presidential election, in which Donald Trump was elected to another term. During this time, broligarchy became a way to describe the increased political involvement of tech billionaires including Tesla’s Elon Musk, Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg, and Amazon’s Jeff Bezos.
