A cock ring is a ring, usually made of metal or rubber, for the penis. Yup.

Where does cock ring come from?
Men have been experimenting with blood flow restriction in their penises in the name of pleasuring wives and concubines (and themselves) for a long long time.
But, we can thank the 1970s for the term cock ring in particular. In the 1970s, cock rings had become associated with the budding gay pride movement. The style of cock rings at the time was leather, riveted with grommets or studs. This style was easy to display either as a bracelet or a necklace during a night out on the town to show potential partners what you’re into. Plus, it played into the broader leather fetish of the decade.

The 1980s and the AIDS awareness movement brought cock rings out of the sheets and onto the streets. During political protests, gay men wore cock rings as accessories to de-stigmatize gay sex and show their pride. Many of these political protest cock rings were made of brightly colored plastic, made to stand out.
The 1990s punk movement brought into the spotlight the distinctive metal horseshoe-shaped cock ring. Gay men rocked this style of cock ring on a necklace—and Ken dolls did too. Mattel released its best-selling Ken doll of all time in 1993 by accidentally outfitting a single-earringed, purple-mesh-clad doll with a silver necklace resembling a cock ring. Oops.
