In other contexts, no más can mean “enough.” One famous example is the so-called No Más Fight between legendary boxer Sugar Ray Leonard and Chilean boxer Roberto “El Cholo” Durán at the New Orleans Superdome in 1980. At the end of the eighth round, Durán turned toward the referee and quit the match by pleading “No más,” or “That’s enough.”

Who uses no más?

The expression no más is very widely used in the Spanish-speaking world for “no more” or “enough.”

No más is common enough that even some English speakers who only know a few phrases of Spanish use it, although they are likely to drop the accent marker from the A (más) when they write it.

No más is also such a handy phrase that bilingual speakers use it when code-switching between English and Spanish.

In some places, such as Ecuador and Mexico, no más can mean something close to “just,” as in Just go serve yourself (Sírvase no más). This use of no más is very friendly and informal.

The related expression no puedo más is basically the Spanish-language version of “I can’t even.”
