Grammar. a construction in which a potential constituent of a clause occurs immediately before it instead, anticipating a slot subsequently filled by a pronoun: as in Your continual excuses, I've had it with them! where Your continual excuses occurs before the clause and anticipates the slot filled by the pronoun them.
