Strauss, Richard

  1. A German composer and conductor of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Strauss is best known for the opera Der Rosenkavalier (The Cavalier of the Rose) and for Thus Spake Zarathustra, a piece for orchestra inspired by the book of the same name by Friedrich Nietzsche.
