Kandinsky, Wassily

1. A Russian-born painter of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries who was a pioneer of abstract expressionism . His early canvases are turbulent abstractions; after 1920 his work incorporated brightly colored geometric forms.

Kandinsky taught at the Bauhaus from 1922 to 1933.
