Origin of coonass
First recorded in 1960–65 or earlier; probably alteration, by folk etymology, of Louisiana French, French conasse a contemptuous term for a woman, literally, “vulva,” equivalent to con “vulva” (from Latin cunnus ) + -asse pejorative noun suffix
