(in the Avesta) the first couple, man and woman, created by Ahura Mazda from a rhubarb plant grown from the seed of Gayomart.
Also called Mah·rē and Mah·rā·nē [mah-ruh; mah-rah-nuh] /ˈmɑ rə; mɑˈrɑ nə/.
