getting sendy

[ get-ing sen-dee ]

What does getting sendy mean?

Get/getting sendy is a hype phrase that means “going all out.” It builds on the adjective sendy, which itself means “bold, daring, or ready to go big.” As a 2025 TikTok trend, the slang phrase is often accompanied by a pretend “shotgunning” gesture with food or random objects by whipping their heads back dramatically. (That’s “shotgunning” as in drinking or eating quickly, made to look like the act of shotgunning a beer.) In some clips, the user looks embarrassed that they’ve been filmed, which adds to the comedic effect.

Where does getting sendy come from?

Getting sendy builds on send it, long used across action sports such as skiing, snowboarding, MTB and climbing to mean “commit enthusiastically.” You can find sendy and send it in mountain-biking and snow-sports forums on platforms such as Reddit years before the 2025 teen/TikTok wave, e.g., “How to get more sendy?” in r/skiing (confidence for tricks) and riders talking about “any little bump I can get sendy with.”

Getting sendy was popularized by a 2023 video from creators NELK Boys, which was widely clipped into a TikTok sound in mid-2025. In the video, a cast member responds, “Let’s get sendy!” after another says, “There’s no commandment that says, ‘Thou shalt not send,’ right?” Mainstream language coverage now records both the older action-sports sense and the newer “pretend shotgunning” usage.

Who uses getting sendy?

First used in action-sports communities (ski/snowboard/MTB/climbing) where send/sendy mean daring or high-commitment moves, it’s now heard in school hallways and in Gen Alpha/teen social media contexts. In the latter context, getting sendy functions as a goofy ritual phrase (often with the “shotgunning” pantomime) and has spawned school-yard variants like six-sendy, a play on the slang phrase six-seven (67).
